2017년은 시작하자마자 정치 사회적 긴장으로 가득했다. 원하는 매체나 기사를 이용자가 취향대로 취사선택하여 소비할 수 있는 현시대에, 역으로 뉴스는 이용자를 어떻게 소비하고 있는가? <Tensions, Mandate, Puzzle>은 명확하고 객관적이며 중립적이라고 여겨지는 뉴스 기사의 사진를 해체하고 비물질화하여 모호하고 장식적인 패턴으로 재창조함으로서 뉴스 기사 사진에 드러난 언론의 정형화된 권위에 의도적으로 도전한다. 관객의 참여를 통해 2017년 주요 사건의 이미지들이 다양한 조합으로 중첩되며 책의 형태로 새로운 픽션이 만들어진다.
The year 2017 was full of political and social tensions as soon as it began. How does news consume users in the present days when consumers can select and consume media or articles as they like in their own ways? 'Tensions, Mandate, and Puzzle' intentionally challenges the formal authority of the media exposed in the news article photographs by deconstructing and dematerializing photographs of news articles which are considered to be straightforward, objective and neutral, and recreating them into vague and decorative patterns. Through the participation of the audience, the images of major events in 2017 are superimposed in various combinations and new fiction is created in the form a book.
